Louis Victor Jules Vierne (1870 –1937) was the organist of Notre-Dame de Paris from 1900 until his death. As a composer, much of his output was organ music, including six symphonies and four suites, and the Messe Solennelle for choir and organ, which we will be performing in three venues. Along with Erik Whitacre’s The Sacred Veil. This work is written for choir, cello and piano and celebrates the “precarious beauty of life, offering the welcome consolation of art and a momentary stay against our collective fate.”

Grammy Award-winning composer Eric Whitacre’s The Sacred Veil is a deeply personal meditation on love, loss, and healing. The Sacred Veil is a 12-movement work and the most recent collaboration between composer Eric Whitacre and poet/lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri. It tells the true story of Silvestri’s wife, Julie, who passed away from ovarian cancer at 36.
