A vast array of beautiful choral expressions awaits in our next program of concerts.

We begin and end our season with two programs featuring composers whom I call “choral mystics.” The leading Canadian exponent of this is my friend Tim Corlis. His music is transparent, lush, evocative, energetic and deeply spiritual. It’s simply wonderful music for a choir to sing and for an audience to hear. We will be recording a selection of his compositions in September and October for the international recording label Naxos. You can attend a preview concert of this recording at St. Barnabas on the Danforth in Toronto on September 28 and the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph on September 29 in a program entitled Missa Pax: Choral Works by Timothy Corlis.

It’s hard to believe that Handel wrote his towering Messiah in only 21 days in 1741.  His spectacular musical journey is one that millions have grown to love and is a Christmas tradition for so many of us. Another December treat for the whole family is our concert of carols and songs entitled O Hear the Angel Voices.

On Good Friday of 2025 we will perform one of J.S Bach’s  premiere works, The Passion According to St. John. It is a dramatic musical setting of theatrical brilliance that transports us to a world teeming with profound and complex emotions. Orchestra,  choir and soloists all come together in the acoustical and visual splendour of the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph.

In our final concert, we return to our mystical theme with Choral Mystics: Ancient & Modern Reflections that will feature some of the most moving and evocative choral compositions written over the centuries.

I look forward to seeing you at one or all of these memorable concerts.

A MAGICAL EVENING!

Thank you both for the first and extraordinary breath of Christmas to come!

That was an absolutely magical evening, one neither Ben nor I shall ever forget. The Edison singers are truly a gift, choral music of a grace and reach that we don't generally hear in Canada. The performance took us all back to our childhoods, our grounding, our foundations, and the essence of who we are.

It is so perfect to have exceptional artistry opening the door for Christmas celebration."

Feedback from an attendee

Noel Edison is one of the most inspiring choral conductors I have been privileged to work with. He manages to elicit gorgeous sounds and profoundly intelligent music-making from his singers. It is a great joy to know that Noel is at last forming his own ensemble. I can't wait to hear it!

I have known Noel Edison since I was a child singing in the same church choir. Through the years, I have seen him build his choirs into a musical powerhouse of high level technical accomplishment balanced by an astonishingly sensitive music making. In Noel's hands, the choir becomes an instrument of ravishing beauty. I am

very happy to see Noel back on the scene and I wish him all the best in his new venture. The musical world will be better for it.
